Merry Christmas Everyone!

It is Christmas Eve, the house is tidy, the ham is baked, the gifts are under the tree so all that is left is for me to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas, hope your day is filled with love.
Merry Christmas
My son getting a koala hug...

My Mum getting a koala hug...

Chris getting a koala hug....
and....

I got a koala hug too! I have no idea what is about me and koalas but they really don't like me much! LOL

Friday 6 December 2013

I haven't fallen down the rabbit hole...

thought there are those out there that might think I have!  I have my Mum visiting with me, so we are catching up, chatting madly, shopping and getting ready for Christmas!
I got a new tree... it is a green tree with white fluffy stuff that is pretending to be snow all over it and I it seems when I was packing for Oz I didn't pack any decs either! :(  So we had to go and buy some of those too... and a lovely white owl that I admired in the shop seems to have made it to the check-out!
I have two very pretty tree skirts... yep, you guessed... not here... and I really don't feel like buying another so maybe I will make one... if I have time!
My Mum may be 80 years old but she can still shop till she drops!
I did have half an hour the other morning when the house was silent and I made some ballerina slippers I had seen on the Graphic 45 blog...
and my son is in Hong Kong and will be catching his next flight later today and arriving in Brisbane this evening!  It really is starting to feel a lot like Christmas....

T on Tuesday

I am joining Elizabeth for T on Tuesday with a mug of chai tea... still looking for a new tea that my tastebuds will accept, have tried a few of the Earl Gray types and they didn't suit.
I had made a pile of little rosettes with the TH rosette die that fell into my shopping basket at the weekend...
so thought it would be a good idea to make a set of little note cards, they might be handy as a gift if I made a little folder box for them?

and I had a pile of book pages from my altered book so thought I would make a wreath for the wall, I don't have a lot of Christmas decorations here with me, so this should make it look a little more festive!
I filled the centre with large jingle bells and some pearls
I think I might try making a smaller version in Christmas patterned paper but it will wait till my Mum gets here later this week and we can cut and fold all those pieces a team!!

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday 232

This is my work desk this warm sunny morning!  Hmmm, yes, apologies for the mess, I am still working on the mini (which is becoming less mini by the hour) book for Neet and Flat Susan travels. You can see the normal tools of the trade on the desk, some travel/journey themed stamps and papers.
This should give you an idea of the design, two large matchboxes on the base, hopefully these will give Neet somewhere to store FS and her luggage safely! The mini mini book between the two matchboxes and the larger book on the top.
Short and sweet this morning waiting to link up to our leader, Julia over at the Stamping Ground (and she has new boots, perfect for stamping everything in sight)!!

T on Tuesday

Across road from where I live is a small park with a memorial for a WWI soldier.
26 years old, how sad, the same age as my son.
In the ground in front is a poppy embedded into the concrete.

The sign explains that Andrew Clarke was the only soldier from the village to have lost his life in WWI.
So I popped over to visit with him yesterday (which was Remembrance Day here) and leave my poppy on the gate. I don't think there are any of the Clarke family remaining in the area as the house was knocked down a few weeks after I moved here in April this year and it is now for sale, but his name lives on as the street I live in is Andrew Avenue.
I am joining Elizabeth and Bleubeard for T on Tuesday with a cup of Chai tea and a chocolate chip biscuit... I am trying to find a tea that tastes like tea... I gave up smoking a month ago and since then my cup of tea has changed its taste!  Woe is me!  Those that know me, know that my tea consumption is way past the norm and to have it taste weird is devastating to say the least... hopefully by going through the supermarket tea shelf I will find one that agrees with my new taste buds.

WOYWW 231

It's that time of the week again! A tour of all the fabby creative desks you could wish for... via the link at darling Julia's Stamping Ground.
This is my work desk, coffee stained papers in the foreground to make book pages, have started to stamp them up ready, and anyone that saw the strips from yesterday
yes... these... and wondered what I was planning to do with them...
If anyone wants to know how to get paper this colour and with the lovely crackle of aged olde worlde appearance then my tutorial is here.
they are now a little book.
which is part of the Flat Susan bookset I am making Neet... this ickle one is going to be a sign in book of names and blogs of all the lovely people who will have had FS as a guest by the time she finishes her world tour.  So I guess I had better get on and sort the rest of it out now too! LOL

T on Tuesday

I am joining Elizabeth for T on Tuesday...
I have a mug of frothy coffee and lots of strips of paper that I have stamped to within a inch of their lives...
I made a pile of my coffee paper yesterday and now I am sitting playing in the hope that Mr Mojo will return from where ever he is and join in the fun.
the frangipani are in full bloom and smell wonderful
the lillies are also in full colour
and the large cheeseplants in my garden produce these flowers, they are huge, about 10 inches in length... they don't last long though, they bloom one day and the next there is no sign of them... no, honest, they vanish completely as though they were never there... I think possums eat them at night!!
All of this is viewed through my watering eyes, running nose and scratchy throat... yes, it seems I have moved to the world's worst hayfever city for this time of year...

WOYWW 230

I am still mojo-less... I hope where ever he is, Mr Mojo is having one heck of a good time! LOL
I have resorted to making Christmas cards... nothing fancy or amazing but at least I will have a few made ready for posting.
and to keep up with the 'use the TH dies' challenge I made a few of these with the reindeer die!  It seems weird making Christmas cards in hot weather and sunshine!!
Don't forget to check out the linky list over at Julia's Stamping Ground where you will find loads of exciting desks to check out!

WOYWW 229

I had nothing to show for my work desk as I am completely mojo-less at the moment, but went and checked the mailbox and there was an envelope with my name on it!!
Elizabeth kindly sent me some of her lovely hand made paper and the ATC for the 4th anniversary swap.

and a Halloween card!  Would you look at that, how cute and my very first ever Halloween card!  Thanks E, just what I needed to cheer me up!
I gave the scrap desk a really good tidy and clean up this morning as if my mojo goes missing, this sometimes encourages it to return.... so here is hoping! :)
Don't forget to check out the linky list over at Julia's Stamping Ground for desks in abundance!!

T on Tuesday

I am joining Elizabeth for T on Tuesday with.... yes, a cup of tea!  I am busy playing with my sewing machine.. I am making a bag to hold the quilt I just finished.
This is the quilt... and in real life the blue is more aqua than it seems to be on my 'pooter screen!
Close up of the butterflies and the binding around the edge.
So that is me for today... beavering away in the cool of the basement... upstairs is a bit warm but the cats love it!! LOL

WOYWW 227

This is my work desk this morning in bright and sunny Brisbane.  I had taken a break from blogging so that I could catch up on some stuff that I wanted to get finished before my Mum and son arrive because I know once I have visitors that my creating time tends to diminish whilst I enjoy the company.
So it is my sewing machine and on the right you can see a pile of bags with quilts inside which I have made for LillyBo Quilts.  I am hoping that my visitors will be able to take them back with them and post them off to Jo(zart) in the New Year.
Little boy quilt with cars and trucks
and backed with little cars
and the bag with some felt cars hanging from a chain.  they can be removed and played with on the quilt.
Little boy raggedy quilt...
backed with soft fur fabric.
and matching bag.
An alphabet quilt.
backed in blue.
Little girl's heffalump quilt...
with satin ribbons to play with.
backed with lots of birds.
Don't forget to check out the linky list for all the desks to visit over at Julia's place and if you could leave your number, I would be super grateful!! :)
